Palynomorph assemblages and composition of sedimentary organic matter of Triassic/Jurassic boundary series are investigated in continental and marine key sections of Hungary and Slovakia. The stratigraphic and spatial variation of sedimentary organic matter is analysed with respect to climatic and palaeoenvironmental changes.
The palynological record of late Triassic to early Jurassic times is used to clarify the events leading to one of the most severe mass extinction events in Earth's history.
